NYC Impact / NYC ROI = benefits to New York City and New York State (hotels, restaurants, hospitality, tourism, transportation, cultural institutions, multicultural communities). National ROI Participation = benefits to participating nations and their Nation's Representing City.
Three Dimensions of ROI
Independent Cost Benchmark
What a city would spend independently to produce a comparable NYC showcase — with venue, pavilion, PR, marketing, performers, delegation, AV, media, business facilitation, and data. Independent cost range: $415K–$1.67M.
Shared Ecosystem Value
Participation provides access to a shared international event, media, tourism, cultural, business, educational, sponsor, Passport to the World, and data infrastructure that may represent strategic value far beyond the participation cost when professionally activated.
Passport to the World Extension
Passport to the World extends ROI by converting event attendance into measurable engagement, sponsor reporting, tourism interest, merchant participation, organization sustainability, and post-event follow-up — creating an ongoing economic trail beyond the event itself.
Estimate Independent Showcase Cost vs. Celebration Participation
2027 Founding Grant: The standard $100,000 participation fee is waived for qualifying founding cities. Standard fee applies from 2028.
"The traveler participant journey is what creates the measurable economic trail: each pavilion visit, merchant engagement, sponsor offer, tourism interest, education interest, business connection, or local Celebration participation can become part of the city's post-event opportunity record."
Country Star participation can increase media value, public excitement, sponsor appeal, Passport to the World promotion, diaspora engagement, and tourism visibility when professionally coordinated. Each selected city is expected to secure a recognized Country Star — a respected artist, performer, cultural figure, athlete, chef, creator, intellectual, or public personality — as part of its NYC participation.
What Participating Cities Can Realistically Expect
Beyond cost benchmarks, these are the practical, measurable benefits that the Celebration ecosystem can deliver to participating cities when professionally activated.
Tourism
Turn curiosity into travel interest.
Present your city to NYC audiences, diaspora communities, travel media, and potential visitors who can discover your destination through Passport to the World and follow-up tourism campaigns.
Trade & Business
Open the doors that change cities.
B2B meetings with importers, investors, distributors, and buyers. Chamber of Commerce bilateral engagement. Business booths inside national pavilions. Investment presentations to diaspora and U.S. partners. Post-event business follow-up through Passport to the World records.
Education
Turn cultural visibility into educational relationships.
Use your city showcase to introduce schools, universities, scholarship programs, research institutions, exchange opportunities, and youth programs to U.S. and international partners.
Cultural Diplomacy
Let your city tell its story with dignity.
Present the heritage, values, creativity, and identity of your people in a setting designed for respect, dialogue, and international connection.
Diaspora Engagement
Bring your people back into your city's future.
Invite diaspora communities to reconnect with their roots, support tourism, invest, mentor, sponsor, visit, and promote the city they love.
Passport to the World
Convert attention into action.
Use Passport to the World to capture traveler interest, pavilion participation, sponsor engagement, merchant activity, tourism interests, education leads, and post-event follow-up.
Each Nation's Promotion Promotes Every Nation.
When each participating nation promotes its own pavilion, city, Country Star, delegation, and Passport to the World experience, it also helps expand the total audience for every other participating nation.
This shared promotion effect is one of the strongest advantages of joining the International Cultures Celebration ecosystem instead of producing an isolated event alone. A city that participates alone produces its own visibility. A city that participates within the ecosystem benefits from the combined visibility of every nation, every Country Star, every sponsor, every tourism board, and every diaspora community in the global ecosystem.
